Free fee check
Tell me what you paid. I will tell you if it is fair.
Find last month's total processing fees and send Luis that number, with your card sales if you have them. Within 24 to 48 hours he will tell you, personally, whether it is fair. If it already is, he will tell you that too.
No upload, no account numbers, no mailing list. En español.
Free fee check
Two numbers. That is the whole form.
Find the total fees on last month's processing statement and enter it here. Luis will look at it personally and tell you, within 24 to 48 hours, whether it is fair.
- No statement upload. Two numbers are enough to start.
- A personal answer from Luis within 24 to 48 hours.
- If what you pay today is already fair, he will tell you that.
Where to find the two numbers
Most processing statements open with a summary box. Look for a line called something like total fees, fees charged, or total discount and fees. That is the first number. Near it you will usually find total sales, gross sales, or amount submitted. That is the second.
If you take payments through an all-in-one app rather than a traditional merchant account, there may be no mailed statement at all. The fees usually sit in the app's sales or deposit reports, often as a fees column you can total for the month.
If last month looks unusual, a slow month or one with an annual fee in it, send it anyway. Luis will ask.
What those two numbers tell him
Fees divided by card sales is your effective rate: what accepting cards actually cost you, with every per-item charge and monthly line item already inside it. It is the one figure that can be compared honestly, and it is almost always higher than the rate an owner remembers being quoted.
On its own it does not say what went wrong. But set against what a business of your type, ticket size, and card mix would reasonably pay, it says clearly whether there is anything worth looking into. More on the effective rate.
Why there is no upload button
A statement file carries your merchant ID and banking details, and a website has no business holding those. Two totals carry nothing anyone could misuse, and they are enough to give you a real first answer. If a closer look is worth it, Luis will tell you what he would need and why, and you decide from there.
What happens after you send it
- The numbers go straight to Luis.
- Within 24 to 48 hours he calls, texts, or emails you back, whichever you left.
- He tells you whether what you pay is fair, and if it is not, roughly where the money is going.
- You decide what, if anything, happens next. You are not added to a mailing list.
Common questions
Before you send it.
Is the fee check really free?
Yes. There is no charge and no obligation. If what you pay today is fair, Luis will tell you, and that is the end of it.
Do I have to include my card sales?
No, but it helps. With both numbers Luis can work out your effective rate straight away. With only the fees, he will ask you one question when he gets back to you.
I cannot find the total on my statement. What do I do?
Call or text Luis. Statements are laid out differently by every provider, and he can tell you where the total usually sits on yours.
Will Luis try to switch me?
Only if switching is clearly in your interest, and he will explain why in plain terms. If your current setup is priced fairly, he will say so.
Is my information safe?
The form asks for your name, a way to reach you, and two dollar totals. Nothing else. There is no file upload, and it never asks for account numbers or card details.
Can I do this in Spanish?
Yes. Luis speaks Spanish, and there is a Spanish version of this page.
Talk to Luis
Rather talk it through?
Call or text Luis. You do not need the numbers ready to start.
